Aza Zeynalova
Aza comes from a rich heritage of music, her father being a distinguished composer. Following his footsteps, Aza from the age of six, studied music first at the Special Music School for gifted children and then won a place at the Academy of Music in Soviet Union.
At the Academy Aza had the honour of being a student of the renowned international pianist and composer, Professor E. Nazirova who studied composition with Shostakovich and piano with Professor Zak, a former pupil of Henry Neuhaus at the Moscow Conservatory.
For the next five years at the Academy, Aza gave concert performances with a wide range of repertoire, perfecting her piano skills and expanding her knowledge of musical history, harmony, music analysis and theory. She graduated with a First Class Degree, not only as a Concert Pianist but also as a Piano Teacher.
Aza has been teaching piano to all levels and all ages for over 30 years including more recent at Oxford Colleges and Schools. She has also performed at concerts as a soloist and as an accompanist.
A number of her students have successfully won places to music colleges and conservatories including the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Many have also attained ABRSM and Trinity Diplomas. Some have even become piano teachers themselves.
However, Aza feels her greatest achievement is seeing all her students become passionate music lovers and inspired pianists.
I would without hesitation recommend her to anyone who wishes to explore their love of music, whether as a keen amateur, or as a professional musician. Her acute powers of observation, great sensitivity, and also a warm sense of humour, will make any lessons under her instruction immensely enjoyable."
